Global Competition Review (GCR) recently published 7th annual edition of its Handbook of Compoetition Economics, focusing on the competition law from the viewpoint of economics. One of the countries analysed is Turkey. Here is the Turkey section of the handbook, which includes a Q&A about the use of economics in antitrust cases of the TCA and basic information about the TCA board members and administrators.
As can be seen in the section, although the TCA has many economics oriented people and a number of MSc and PhD economists working as “competition expert”, there is nobody titled as a specialist economist working on cases. However, in any case the rapporteur team could get theoretical and quantitative support from the Dept. of Economics Analysis and Research if in-depth economic analysis is needed.
